We started ObjectSpread because we wanted to do research — and didn’t want to wait for permission.
Not permission from a university. Not permission from a company with a roadmap to protect. Not permission from any institution measuring my output against a KPI that has nothing to do with the question I actually want to answer.
The questions we care about — what makes systems great, why certain designs endure while others collapse, what mathematics underlies the behavior of complex systems — don’t fit neatly inside a semester, a sprint, or a performance review cycle. They require the kind of slow, patient, independent thinking that institutions are structurally bad at rewarding.
So we built a space for it.
ObjectSpread is our attempt to do rigorous, long-term research into systems architecture and design philosophy — outside the four walls of school, outside the quarterly pressures of industry. It’s independent by design. Not because independence is romantic, but because some questions can only be answered from that position.
What you’ll find here
This newsletter publishes the work — in all its forms. Research essays that investigate design principles across domains. Updates from active research cycles. Reflections on methodology and the philosophy of inquiry. Tools, prototypes, and code that demonstrate ideas in practice.
Some of it will be finished. Some of it will be in progress. All of it will be honest about where the thinking currently stands.
